Mesoporous silicate materials were synthesized using amphiphilic triblock copolymers as templates. Small-angle x-ray scattering techniques were adopted for characterization of the mesoporous structure obtained whereas scanning and transmission electron microscopy for morphological studies. Small-angle x-ray scattering techniques were adopted for characterization of the mesoporous structure obtained whereas scanning and transmission electron microscopy for morphological studies. We found that triblock copolymers can successfully serve as templates for the synthesis of lamellar mesophase, hexagonal SBA-15 mesoporous materials, while a higher EO/PO ratio favors cubic mesostructured silica, i.e. SBA-16.
