In this manuscript, we present a novel method to solve Lorenz chaos problem. As we known, the traditional fuzzy logic control method, it spends a lot of time to determine the membership functions and fuzzy if-then rules by trial-and-error tuning. To overcome these drawbacks, we propose to design an interval fuzzy type-2 controller with the sliding surface. The fuzzy if-then rules are defined based on the sliding surface, and the output of the fuzzy controller is inferred by the proper compositional rule of inference. The motivation behind this scheme is to drive the states of Lorenz system by using the sliding surface. The simulation results indicate that the proposed method is feasible and effective for the Lorenz chaos problem
