Abstract: In this paper, lead-free Na0.50K0.48Ca0.01Nb1-xCuxO3 (NKNC-x) based piezoelectric ceramics are synthesized by conventional mixed-oxide method, with the sintering temperature at 1000-1100 ℃. The Microstructure and phase structure variations with the CuO substitution amounts were carried out using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscope (SEM) to identify the perovskite structure change of this developed composition. The effects of CuO dopants and the sintering temperature on the piezoelectric and dielectric properties of the ceramics have been investigated. We successfully showed that all CuO additive samples have maximum density, ρ>4.30 g/cm3, thickness electromechanical coupling coefficient, kt >0.50, and mechanical quality factor, Qm >1200, at the preferrable sintering temperature and poling condition. Then, we construct 3-MHz transducers utilizing our developed piezoceramics and examine their dynamic resonant characteristics as the transducers are driven by a power driver with open-loop control. The dynamic characteristics of therapeutic transducer, i.e. time stability and and temperature stability, are also investigated.
