在面射型半導體雷射中,偏振模躍遷是一種隨機發生的偏振功率完全轉換之現象。在本研究中,我們以實驗的方法來探討面射型半導體雷射在電流調變及選擇性偏振光回饋下的偏振切換行為。實驗結果顯示,在適當的條件下,以10 MHz 對VCSEL 進行偏振切換調變,偏振模躍遷所引起的雜訊可以被選擇性偏振回饋光所抑制。其訊噪比可以提高15 dB 以上。此研究所獲得的成果將有助於偏振切換性能的提升。Polarization mode hopping (PMH) is characterized by a stochastic exchange of power between two polarization states of the vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL). This investigation presents an experimental study of the current driven polarization switching (PS) properties of the VCSEL with polarization-selective optical feedback (PSOF). Experimental results indicated that, under some operating conditions, PMH noise could be suppressed by the PSOF while the VCSEL subjected to current modulation at a rate of 10 MHz. The signal to noise ratio (SNR) increased above 15 dB by the PSOF. These results can be used to greatly improve the performance of the PS.
