Abstract: The dielectric characteristics of the lead-free piezoelectric ceramic (K0.5Na0.5Nb)O3 have been developed and investigated in this letter. It is found that the phase of (K0.5Na0.5Nb)O3 ceramics is pure perovskite with typical orthorhombic symmetry and no other secondary phases could be certified. The shapes of the prains for pure (K0.5Na0.5Nb)O3 ceramics are quadrate and ahich aould due to the increasing of the porosity and cannot be eliminated easily. Because of the phase stability of pure KNN ceramics is limited to 1140℃, higher sintering temperature (over than 1140℃) is not suitable for the fabrication of KNN cermics. In this letter, for the 1100℃-sintered KNN cermics, the bulk density is 4.6g/cm3 the Curie temperature is 415℃, and the relative dielectric constant is 2400.
