Abstract: We proposed a novel dual-mode dual band bandpass filter (BPF) operating at 2.4/5.7 GHz by using a right cross-slotted patch resonator (RCSPR) combined with a pair of square etched areas (SEAs). A pair of right crossed slot embedded in the center of the patch resonator is used to tune the resonant modes having 2.4/5.7 GHz responses. In this design, a pair of SEAs etched within the RCSPR is provided to be the perturbation element to generate the filter performance with the transmission zeros near the passband edges. It is shown that the fabricated filter has good dual-band performances at 2.4/5.7 GHz with high selectivity, narrow bandwidth, and very sharp attenuation rate due to the existence of the transmission zeros. Measured results of the fabricated BPF have a good agreement with the full-wave simulation results.
